REVENGE
It's an interesting dilemma. If someone you loved was killed and you had the power, would you go after the one who hurt them?
Well, would you?
SUPERFOGEYS IN JUSTICE LEAGUE MOVIE??? (NO, BUT...)
How crazy is this? This is from super commenter Cartoonist Will, also the creator behind The Misadventures of SuperMilo!
What do you think? Me, I'm going with "coincidence." Uncle Marvel is a character that dates back to the 40's. Although...it is true that he looks quite a bit different in previous incarnations. This new one is strikingly similar to CS. Still, there's just no way anyone having anything to do with that movie are even aware of SF. Lots of fun to think about it though!
NEXT WEEK:
On Tuesday the prophecy part of "Swifty and the Prophecy" is revealed.
Then, on Thursday, be back here as Spy Gal and the Captain continue their discussion and get to the heart of Cap's reluctance to act in the face of Tom's death.

No, I wouldn't. Doing so wouldn't make you any better then the person(s) who hurt you. At least in my opinion.Dierna says...

To answer your question, though...no. I suppose it depends on what you mean by "go after" them. And it depends on what kind of hurt. My initial reaction is no, but I think if there was justice that needed to be served to keep such a thing from happening again, I might use my power to ensure that justice was served. Hmm...that's a difficult question to answer.YourD says...

I honestly can't give an accurate answer because I haven't been in a situation like that.Though I've hit a guy once for making a good friend of me cry (though to be fair, I had been looking for a good excuse to hit him for a while by then).
I'd imagine that if I would decide to go after someone I'd definitely not kill them, but rather make them suffer.

Tough question, I once pushed a guy down an ice slide for hurting my little sister. He got a bloody nose but that's probably as close as I've come to this scenario. And to the awesome similarities to the SF and new JL movie...wow...just wow...

Spygal is just itching to get her hands on that doctor, lol.I don't do revenge. Not killing the person always leaves them open to re-revenge. Kind of like re-gifting. Except the fruit cake is poisoned. (Just joking; of course I side with the Cap).

I would have to say "HECK YEAH!!" I know it would bring me down to their level, but if the example were someone killed one of my children or a member of my family, you better believe I'd exact a swift and brutal revenge upon them. I would make it clear to everyone what it was for, so that it wasn't considered just another act of violence, but an act of vindication. I know I'd have to pay the price for the crime, and I'd be willing to do so. You don't hurt my family....period.tmcelmurry says...

That is really a cool coincidence about JL: Crisis on Two Earths and Super Fogeys. I feel it's just a coincidence, but oh my what a great coincidence it is though.cyberdog says...

I'm gonna be weighing on this next week when the next part of this conversation is released and some things get clarified. Really enjoying reading these!dgriff13 says...

hard to say for sure, but I think "revenge", or honoring loved ones (however you choose to look at it), is just part of our human instinct. I'd be lying if I said I'd never want revenge.. it's whether I act on it..Baughbe says...

Oh most definitely. But its not about revenge, its a genetic imperative. Once someone or something has proven to be a danger to you, your family and/or 'tribe' (however you define the circle of those close to you), if you fail to remove the danger, then you risk the eventual destruction of the genetic/societal lineage. Survivors don't turn the other cheek. Those that turn the other cheek eventually their line will not survive.CartoonistWill says...

Oh, hey, just wanted to make a clarification. According to Wikipedia, that's technically not Uncle Marvel since it's his evil doppelganger, who is called Uncle Super. I knew it was the evil version but forgot there'd be a name change. This would also explain why Uncle looks very different from the comics, since this is an otherworld version.Javier says...

I haven't really read what others have said because this is a quick post. But Spy Gal seems to be Captain's Lady Macbeth in many ways. We know she suspects Klein of being the Third Man, so she's spurring the Cap into action. She seems to be getting a obsessive also, maybe even paranoid.Javier says...
posted 3/11/10 10:29 pm
P.S. We also know Tom isn't dead. If Cap gets revenge by killing Third Man, then he would've been mistaken, since Tom isn't dead. You can never be too sure of anything. Like I said before, I think the most important part of this conversation is how Spy Gal is trying to get the Cap to go after Klein, which is manipulation if you ask me.cyberdog says...

Not to make this SF episode into a bad Kung Fu movie plot, but I think a couple of necks being snapped is in order. If Javier is correct and Tom is not dead I'm sure Cap would find that out before doin the do. You gotta do some investigation ya know. He's old he knows that you gotta check it out before bustin a cap. Wait, "Cap Busts a Cap!" A title for the next strip? What do you think Brock. If I were you I'd say, "Thank you." LOL.
